Without changing the existing materials, the company\u2019s technical staff optimized the material flow and increased material mixing uniformity. As a result, they completely resolved these issues and significantly improved the elevator\u2019s operation.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-eecdba4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"eecdba4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">1. Problem Description<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-48d0966 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"48d0966\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>In 2014, a company implemented an energy-saving retrofit for its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.darko-tech.com\/product\/cement-equipment\/cement-grinding\/\">cement grinding system<\/a>. The cement mill has a specification of \u03c64.2m\u00d713m, and the retrofit added a CLF180-140 roller press. In the original design, all materials entered the elevator through a chute, were lifted to a stabilizing bin, and then fed into the roller press.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-594804a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"594804a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The process flow was designed as follows:<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d020af3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d020af3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul><li><p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\">Clinker, after batching and weighing, merged with V-separator returns in a chute.<\/p><\/li><li><p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\">The mixture then moved down the chute to the elevator inlet.<\/p><\/li><li><p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\">At the elevator inlet, it combined with batched auxiliary materials (additives and citric gypsum) before entering the elevator.<\/p><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9dd6ea3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"9dd6ea3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>After the retrofit, severe uneven material distribution (more material on one side of the bucket) and material sticking were observed. These issues caused uneven force on the elevator chains. Over time, the chain on the heavier side stretched, while the other side remained unchanged. If not addressed promptly, this imbalance could derail the elevator\u2019s tail pulley and disrupt operation.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f7b3eb8 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"f7b3eb8\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">2. Cause Analysis<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-02b1cda elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"02b1cda\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Analysis showed that uneven material distribution resulted from the high drop height of V-separator returns. Due to inertia, these materials flowed rapidly. When they merged with auxiliary materials, the impact pushed the auxiliary flow to one side of the chute. Consequently, materials entered the elevator unevenly.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6630396 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6630396\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Material sticking occurred because the citric gypsum had high moisture (about 20%) and was sticky. Before entering the elevator, it did not mix sufficiently with clinker and other materials. As a result, some citric gypsum directly contacted the buckets, causing sticking.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-07ea2aa elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"07ea2aa\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Together, uneven distribution and sticking made one side of the buckets heavier. This uneven load stretched the chains and raised the risk of derailment.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a53e222 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"a53e222\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">3. Improvement Measures<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5f0d33a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5f0d33a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Based on the analysis, the priority was to resolve uneven distribution first, then address sticking. Two improvement plans were developed:<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-35287d1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"35287d1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Plan 1:<\/strong>\u00a0Install guide plates in the chute where materials merge. These plates would change the material flow direction and reduce inertial impact.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6e4a429 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6e4a429\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Plan 2:<\/strong>\u00a0Adjust and optimize material flow in the chutes. Increase vertical downward flow and reduce slanted flow to decrease inertial impact.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fc2626b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"fc2626b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Plan 1 was rejected because the moist citric gypsum would likely stick to the guide plates and cause chute blockage. Therefore, Plan 2 was selected.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a267879 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a267879\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>In Plan 2, the material flow was optimized. Cement production typically uses 10%\u201330% auxiliary materials and 65%\u201385% clinker. The original design merged clinker with V-separator returns first, then with auxiliary materials. This increased slanted flow and impact force.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1228795 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"1228795\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">4. Implementation Results<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4015771 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4015771\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>After implementing Plan 2:<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f16ee40 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"f16ee40\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul><li><p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\">About two-thirds of clinker was diverted through the new chute and mixed with auxiliary materials in advance. This mixture accounted for about 50% of the total elevator feed and flowed vertically downward.<\/p><\/li><li><p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\">Only one-third of clinker followed the original path and merged with system returns. The reduced flow minimized slanted impact, and materials entered the elevator evenly.<\/p><\/li><li><p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\">Improved mixing prevented citric gypsum from directly contacting the buckets, eliminating sticking.<\/p><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7c7cb3a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7c7cb3a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Later, a rod gate valve was installed above the original clinker chute for better flow control. Currently, only about 1\/10 of clinker flows through the original chute, ensuring thorough mixing and completely resolving both uneven distribution and sticking.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d7e407e elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"d7e407e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">5. Benefits<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-de1b076 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"de1b076\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">(1) Stable Operation and Higher Efficiency<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-082e6e1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"082e6e1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Materials now enter the elevator evenly from the center. Mixing uniformity is improved, and moist, sticky citric gypsum no longer contacts the buckets. Chains experience even force, operation is stable, and equipment utilization increased.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1b1839e elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"1b1839e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">(2) Reduced Maintenance Costs<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bea4978 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"bea4978\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The improvement required:<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4356362 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4356362\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul><li><p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\">One clinker\u00a0<strong>splitter<\/strong>\u00a0chute (2m high, 400mm x 400mm) made of 5mm steel plate with composite wear-resistant lining.<\/p><\/li><li><p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\">Seven rod gate valves.<\/p><\/li><li><p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\">Total material cost: about \u00a52,000.<\/p><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7bf28e5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7bf28e5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>After the improvement:<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b2e2d6d elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"b2e2d6d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul><li><p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\">Material mixing improved, and buckets no longer stick.<\/p><\/li><li><p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\">Bucket corrosion from acidic citric gypsum was eliminated.<\/p><\/li><li><p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\">Bucket service life extended from 2 to 4 years.<\/p><\/li><li><p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\">Chain life also increased significantly.<\/p><\/li><li><p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\">Annual savings in maintenance materials: about \u00a550,000.<\/p><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div
